I am pretty sure it is deductible when you a buying a home; just want to know if it is deductible when refinancing as it will impression the earn back time of the refinancing costs.

Can I Deduct the Origination Fee from My Taxes if I Bought the Same Year I Refinanced?

I’m looking to refinance my mortgage that I started about 5 months ago. Will I be able to deduct the origination fee I payed on the original mortgage on my taxes?

Can I Claim Mortgage Interest After Being Legally Separated?

I was legally separated in July, 2009 and my wife got the house. We made mortgage payments together up to our separation date (6 months). She made the mortgage payments for the remainder of the year. Can I claim half of the mortgage interest on my taxes?
I’m filing single.

Is It Really a Good Idea to Pay Your Property Taxes and Your Jan 1 Mortgage Interest Payments in 2007 Vs 2008?

I mean, if you claim it this year, that means you can’t claim it next year, so why would it matter? Is it smartest to claim 2 years mortgage interest and property taxes in 1 year (1 payment January and one in December?) I’ve just been claiming one per year and not accelerating any payments ever.
