About 13 years ago I incurred a debt with a university. I need to take care of it so they’ll relief my transcriptions. The only information they have about the debt is the amount and the agency who formerly held the debt. This agency is now defunct. What do I do if it’s no longer on my credit report?

My homes value has dropped significantly with all the foreclosures in my area. Appraised at just 68,000! I owe 178,000! Would my mortgage company be more willing to help me stay in my home buy building my payments more affordable than to add one more forclosure to the LONG list in my area? To me…It would subsidy them to help me stay in a home I have been living in for that last 13 years.
