Nader asked during 2000 election — what if he spoils race?

www.richardarsenault.com ! Featuring most of a speech Nader made in his 2000 campaign. The questions from the audience have been edited out because they were hard to hear. No content has been deleted. I will keep this posted for historical perspective. I produced and directed this no-budget doc. © 2000, 2008 True-Film Inc. 9 “Eight years ago, consumer advocate Ralph Nader correctly predicted that the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) were on track to follow the savings and loan industry of the 1980s and 90s into a big financial heap of trouble. Nobody listened, and taxpayers are now at risk of losing tens of billions of dollars. Wall Street is being shaken to its foundation. American International Group Inc., the biggest US insurer by assets, is now teetering on the brink of ruin after suffering losses of $18 billion in the past three quarters, largely due to its sub prime mortgage exposure.” — The Nation 9/16

Listen to his message from 9 years ago…

    The issues have not changed.

    His predictions came true.

What’s next for America, Ralph? You’ve been largely accurate — one of the only political candidates who can claim that.

  2. -connorryan

    Tom Tomorrow!

  3. -HughieGphiladelphia

    nader is the man!

  4. -evelau

Jello is a great activist in his own way, but he is not and should not be a politician. But yes, I respect his work and I like Dead Kennedys a lot.

  5. -DANxCHORIN

Yeah, I imagine Nader would be better at representing the interests of the American people than Jello. Not to say that he isn’t awesome though.

  6. -evelau

Jello was going for the Green Party nomination as well but then decided to support Nader. (Wise choice.)

  7. -DANxCHORIN

    Awesome, DK were amazing.

  8. -DANxCHORIN

Is the second guy guy Jello Biafra from the Dead Kennedys?

  9. -averagejane123

Gore doesn’t even see it that way.

  10. -averagejane123

A Vote for Nader Is A Vote for Nader!

  11. -wreddon

Nader is a genius, the two parties do get worse every four years and now fully take everyone for granted. Instead of change for the better, they just use the lowered bar from each failure to justify being more careless with our country.

  12. -ApemanD

There’s no communists here in America, only Americans. you voted for Bush in 04 and watch Fox news, huh? yeah, bet you can’t figgure me out as well as that.

Company provides Pocket PC forensics investigation software takes only few minutes in surveillance of any branded smart phones, PDA and Pocket PC mobile phones.

  14. -wintahdude

Do you have a source for that nonsense?

  15. -chicoval45

Because the vast majority of communists and anarcho-syndicalists are voting for nosama bin biden.

  16. -wintahdude

If third party candidates were not running I would not be voting, so how is my vote for Ralph a vote for McCain/Palin?

  17. -cookimonstizzle

I don’t know why you call me a socialist- I’m a libertarian LOL. I’m just not for corrupt, two-party systems, thanks.

You should probably stop voting for candidates who take you for granted.

  18. -chicoval45

What socialist fantasy world are YOU living in?

You need to get off that ***** pipe!

  19. -cookimonstizzle

A vote for McBama is a vote for FISA, continuing the wars, invading other countries, wasted government spending, not upholding the constitution, and continuation of the undemocratic election laws that are biased against non-Republicrats.

Third Parties/Independents are talking about uniting on key issues! Paul, Nader, McKinney, Barr, Baldwin

A vote for Ralph is a vote for mcCain/Palin

    The Repubs love ya

  22. -NoFearNoMercy

Whats wrong with saying that? Unfortunately Obama is making his ideas more uniform and mainstream so as not to offend certain constituents…he is known to be much more outspoken about certain issues, on which he has “played safe” whilst campagning.

I don’t think it was intended to be a derogatory remark…just let Obama be himself.

  23. -lethalcobra2k3

I concur, thus only proving my point, its useless for Nader to run

  24. -FunshinePanda

Let’s not be so trite. It’s a wasted vote due to an outdated voting system that favors large party candidates. One of many problems that will never be addressed by sticking with the current two parties…

  25. -lethalcobra2k3

Nader is GOP, he runs as a spoiler taking liberal votes from dems, by splitting the dem vote a little, and then conceding, he spoils the race. Nobody ever mentions that he never runs to the end, he jumps out early every time, NADER IS A WASTED VOTE!
