My boyfriend owed about $11,000 for his student loans, he expected a refund of about $3,000 fed and $1500 state, and $900 for the stimulus. We never received a check and he told me they kept it because he owes for his student loans. Can they keep ALL of his checks???? or is he lying?
yes they can!
Yes, they can and will, and apply the amounts to what he owes.
Yes, once the Student Loan has defaulted the Financial Management Logic is told, then the IRS and your State send all Federal, State and Rebate funds to FMS. This will continue to happen until the Student Loan is paid in full.
Your boyfriend force be able to contact the Student Loan Company and see if he can get the loan reinstated. FMS is only told on defaulted loans.
Yes…..assuming the loans are in default.
He won’t receive a dime until they are paid off.
If he has defaulted of course the refunds will be offset and applied to his debt as will any future refunds.
